Inspired by the pomelo citrus, the Wen Dan (文旦)Yixing Teapot charms with its rounded body and gentle dimples that recall the fruit’s thick peel. This shape gives a pleasant, secure feel in the hand, while creating room for tea leaves to open fully—making it a favorite for solo sessions or sharing with one or two friends.
Half-handmade from Zhong Cao Qing Zi Ni (中槽清紫泥), a fine mid-layer purple clay from Huanglong Mountain, this pot fires to a warm, deep purple-brown with faint mineral flecks. Its excellent breathability gently softens bitterness and brings out layered sweetness and a smooth, lasting finish. It pairs beautifully with oolong, pu-erh, black tea, and darker roasts.
About the Mud Painting
The teapot features traditional mud painting (泥绘), a distinctive Yixing Teapot decoration technique in which colored Zisha clay slips are carefully brushed onto the unfired body and fuse permanently during firing, creating natural clay art that develops the same nourishing patina as the teapot itself over time.
