Zi Ye Shi Piao represents a famous variation of the classic Shi Piao Yixing Teapot, created by scholar-artist "瞿子冶" (Qu Ziye) during China's Qing Dynasty. While maintaining the classic proportions of the Shi Piao, Qu Ziye elevated it through fully carved surfaces often accompanied by poetic calligraphy.
This teapot is half handmade from Zhu Ni, a red clay challenging to fire due to its 20% shrinkage rate. This process results in an exceptionally dense, glass-smooth texture that provides improved heat retention and subtly enhances the tea's flavor profile.
About the Engraving
The teapot features hand-engraved scenes that demonstrates the traditional Chinese artistic approach of integrating painting, calligraphy and the teapot into a multi-layered art expression.
