The Pan Hu (潘壶) Yixing teapot emerged in the Qing Dynasty as a custom design commissioned by Pan Shicheng, a wealthy salt merchant from Guangdong who loved small clay pots for brewing tea. Influenced by Fujian tea habits he ordered these in Yixing for personal use and as gifts, blending literati culture with everyday function. The full rounded body widens into a stable belly offering ample room for tea leaves to expand thick walls for consistent heat and a short spout for easy drip-free pouring. This practical design suits Gong Fu sessions with one or two people, enhancing flavor through repeated infusions.

Half-handmade from Red Jiang Po Ni (红降坡泥), a variant of Duan Ni clay accidentally discovered in the early 1990s during road construction on the slope between Huanglong and Qinglong mountains (“downhill mud”). This iron-rich blend of purple, red and Duan Ni clays fires to a deep warm red-brown with striking colorful star flecks, evoking a starry sky or textured pear skin in a warm glow. High porosity seasons the pot fast, softens harshness, and enhances sweetness, aroma, and body. Best for oolong, black tea and shou pu-erh.

A plain piece highlighting the clay's natural warmth and starry flecks against the generous, rounded form—simple, versatile, and perfect for daily brewing with bolder teas.
