Fang Gu is a classic style in Yixing teapots, taking inspiration from the shape of historical war drums. Its design features a compressed spherical body with a pronounced belly, ensuring both structural stability and visual balance.
This teapot is crafted from Zhu Ni clay (朱泥), a red clay that is challenging to fire with a shrinkage rate of around 20%. Due to the high density, Zhu Ni clay delivers exceptional heat retention and subtly enhances the flavour profile of tea. The "秋枫" (Autumn Marple) engraved on the teapot features crimson foliage that harmonizes with the warm reddish hue of the Zhu Ni clay.
