This Little Apple Yixing Teapot, draws inspiration from the fruit's form while remaining grounded in the Yixing “圆器” (round ware) tradition. Its spherical body is designed for optimal function, featuring a curved spout for powerful pour and an enlarged handle that provides a secure grip.
This teapot is half handmade from Dicaoqing, a type of purple clay distinguished by its flecks of green mineral inclusions. The artisan intentionally employed a lower firing temperature, resulting in a reddish-brown hue from the clay and a slightly more porous texture, which will encourage patina with use.
About the Engraving
The teapot features a hand engraved bamboo and the inscription "壶小有天地" (The teapot is small, but contains a universe within), conveying that "from small matters we can see something great".
