Almond Aroma Dancong (杏仁香, Xing Ren Xiang) is a distinctive Phoenix Dancong oolong, named for its fragrance, which carries the fragrance of bitter almond used in Traditional Chinese Medicine yet remains pleasantly nutty and sweet. This tea is known for its rich fruity aroma and refreshing taste, which develop naturally throughout its kill-green (fixation), rolling, and roasting process.
Grown at 700 meters in Dongjiao, this Spring 2024 harvest exemplifies the deep, layered complexity of high-mountain Dancong. The dry leaves are tightly twisted, delicate, and dark brown with a glossy sheen, indicating an early harvest of delicate young leaves and reflecting their meticulous craftsmanship. Once brewed, the tea releases an intensely aromatic almond fragrance, accompanied by notes of ripe fruit and subtle herbal undertones.
The tea liquor is a vibrant orange-yellow, offering a fresh, smooth, and slightly sweet infusion. As it cools, the flavors evolve, leaving a long-lasting, comforting aftertaste with a signature lingering almond finish. Its resilient nature makes it an excellent choice for multiple infusions, revealing new layers of complexity with each steep.
