Da Fo Long Jing (大佛龙井) is a distinguished variety of Long Jing tea that comes from Xinchang County, Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, China. Specifically, the batch we've selected comes from Jianguo Village, a revered site within this key production region, situated at an elevation of 780 meters. On the day of Qingming (April 4, 2024), the fresh leaves of the Qun Ti Zhong cultivar were carefully harvested according to the precise picking standard of one bud and one leaf.
Long Jing, known in English as Dragon Well, is a world-renowned pan-fried green tea recognized for its uniquely flat leaves. The name Dragon Well is derived from the famous Long Jing Spring located near West Lake in Hangzhou, a renowned freshwater lake. Esteemed by the Qianlong Emperor of the Qing Dynasty in the 1700s, Long Jing tea has maintained its status as one of China's most famous teas, particularly noted as possibly the most prestigious green tea.
In the past two years, our green tea club has explored Long Jing teas from both the Xihu and Qiantang regions. This year, we are excited to introduce Da Fo Long Jing from Yuezhou, marking our coverage of all three major Long Jing tea production areas. These regions—Xihu, Qiantang, and Yuezhou—collectively define the landscape of Long Jing tea production.
Storage & Freshness Notice:
For the best experience, Chinese green tea is traditionally enjoyed within the first year after harvest to highlight its freshness and vibrant character. While this tea was harvested in April 2024, it has been carefully stored to retain its quality. If kept in an airtight container in a cool, dry place or refrigerated, it can still be enjoyed well beyond a year.
To encourage fresh consumption, we are offering 20% off this batch—making it a great opportunity to enjoy a high-quality green tea at a lower price before the next harvest arrives.
