Shou Pu'er made from Gushu (ancient tree) material using small-batch fermentation is a rarity in the tea world. Unlike conventional Shou Pu'er, which is typically fermented in large piles, this tea undergoes a meticulous small-scale fermentation process, preserving the unique character of its ancient tree origins.
The tea leaves are sourced from centuries-old tea trees, some over 200 years old, growing in a remote and well-preserved ancient forest in Bulang Township. These tea trees, often 4-5 meters tall, with some reaching 6 meters, thrive in a pristine, biodiverse environment, contributing to the tea’s depth and richness.
Due to the limited quantity of ancient tree leaves, traditional large-scale wet piling (Wo Dui) fermentation is not feasible. However, thanks to advancements in fermentation techniques, small-batch fermentation has become possible, allowing for the production of high-quality Gushu Shou Pu'er. This tea was carefully fermented inside bamboo baskets, elevated off the ground, a technique that enhances cleanliness and refines the fermentation process.
This 2020 Bulang Gu Shu Shou Pu'er was pressed on April 8, 2020, and offers a deep, velvety texture with a rich, lingering sweetness—a testament to the harmonious fusion of ancient trees and modern craftsmanship.
