This Shou Mei-grade white tea was harvested in April 2013 from the high mountains of Panxi Town, a region renowned for producing some of the highest-quality white tea. The tea was carefully processed with long-term aging in mind, ensuring its flavors develop gracefully over time.
When stored properly, high-quality Shou Mei naturally develops a rich honey aroma after about seven years—a characteristic that this tea fully embodies. In addition to its full-bodied and clean taste, it reveals date and medicinal notes when boiled or steeped for an extended time. This makes it a true representation of well-aged, properly stored Shou Mei. After 10 years of careful storage in a warehouse, it has now been officially made available for sale.
Shou Mei (寿眉, "Longevity Eyebrow") is named for its crescent-shaped leaves, which resemble an old man's eyebrow. Made from naturally withered buds, leaves, and sometimes stems, it ranks below Bai Hao Yin Zhen (Silver Needle) and Bai Mu Dan (White Peony) in terms of picking standards.
This grade of white tea is particularly well-suited for aging, as its coarser leaves and stems contain a rich concentration of flavor compounds. The natural spacing between stems promotes better airflow, allowing for gradual oxidation and the development of complex, layered flavors over time.
